  1. They are on the verge of financial and social collapse due to a mixture of corrupt culture and erdoganism. It was fantastic to visit and even better to leave.

  2. It isn’t quite as horrible as it seems. But it’s always amusing. I’d substitute Buffalo, New York, which isn’t exactly the end of the world but visible from a chair.

  3. This is ridiculous. Turkey is a wonderful, beautiful, and enormous country with a rich history and plenty to see and do. Istanbul, in particular, despises Erdogan. It’s the equivalent of a non-American declaring New York or California useless just because you despise Trump.

  4. Yes, but before you go, get some of that Hazer Baba lemon tea drink. My mother brought some home from a layover eight years ago, and it’s still the best. Their other items are available at a nearby store, but the lemon has yet to arrive.

Maybe there’s a better brand out there, but we can’t find it.

  5. You can also do what I did in Turkey, where I went to a location called turgetreis. Cheap beer, cheap wine, decent food, spotless streets and beautiful beaches, plenty to do, and extremely friendly people…… Do you have any idea what I did? It was enjoyable for me.

  6. Every few years, my family visits Turkey. It’s a lovely country with delicious food, but a shady government.

If you’re okay with that, it’s a fantastic place to visit and explore. If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll love the food.

This summer, my wife is going to Turkey to look for a designer to make her clothes. Her customers adore Turkish-made products.

  7. What is the reason for this? I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

UPDATE: Bruh, why did I get so many downvotes for saying “can’t be that bad”?
I had no prior knowledge of turkey, so I simply inquired.

  8. “Why was Constantinople chosen to receive the works? Nobody else’s business but the Turks’!”

For thousands of years, it’s been prime real estate.

  9. I just miss turkey. The people are wonderful, and the country is full of stunning scenery and historic sites to see. And then there’s the food. I really miss the food.

  10. While the people and culture of Turkey are great, this post is not amusing. The political climate is bad, and the government is bad, but so was the situation in the United States a year ago.

Don’t judge an entire country and its people based on your lack of knowledge!
